Urgetopunt Technologies is a software development boutique that develops web-based business software for voiceover artists, agents and managers in Los Angeles, New York and elsewhere. It is run by John Parker, a reformed sysadmin who has left a scourge of badly-written, poorly-documented software to be maintained by former coworkers. By adhering to test-driven development and other sound software development principles, he seeks to make amends for the needless suffering that old code has caused.
John started out as a systems administrator working with Solaris, AIX, Linux and *BSD before moving on to full-time web application development with Perl and PHP. He eventually discovered Ruby and today works primarily with open source frameworks like Rails, Merb and Sinatra.
Maintenance of this site is aided greatly by a number of wonderful open source tools including Blueprint, Git, Jekyll, Capistrano and, of course, Ruby. The site is served from Linode. The source is available on Github.
